Our group is “Disciples of Jesus”, its not a denomination.
One distinction between us and everyone else is, we believe Jesus when he says ONLY HE is our teacher. And ONLY GOD is our father.
Matthew 23:8 NKJV”But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren.
Matthew 23:9 NKJV”Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.
Matthew 23:10 NKJV”And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ.
So when people ask what books are in our Canon, the answer is the books where God/YHWH and Jesus speak.
We are not to add one word to the law:
Proverbs 30:6 NKJV “Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.”
Deuteronomy 4:2 NKJV “You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.”
Deuteronomy 12:32 NKJV “Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.”
Along with this we are ALSO COMMANDED to discuss the law wherever we go.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NKJV “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”
NOTE that “teaching” in Torah was REPEATING THE WORDS OF YHWH/GOD. This applies today as well, but with Jesus/Yeshua’s words included. Jesus commanded the Disciples to teach “whatsoever things I have commanded you”. When we quote Jesus VERBATIM, the teacher is Jesus. We are teaching them what the teacher said. This places his words as the authority on Earth.
QUESTIONS PEOPLE WILL ASK:
- “What about the prophets?”
The prophets DID NOT TEACH FROM THEMSELVES. They said, “the word of the LORD came to me….”. Or they will say, “thus saith the LORD”.
The Prophets were simply mouth pieces for God. God spoke through them. The disciple is a mouth piece for Jesus and YHWH.
2. What about Math and other basic things?
So obviously Jesus is not talking about these things. Here is the answer, EVERYTHING GOD AND JESUS TALKED ABOUT VERBATIM. So like the topic of HELL, only God and Jesus’ words on Hell are TRUTH. Anyone else talking about Hell, its just their thinking and is not certain to be True. When discussing the things of God and Jesus the Disciple will remind the audience: “Only God and Jesus’ words verbatim are absolutely True.
3. Aren’t you teaching now?
As we often say, “Only God and Jesus’ words are absolute Truth. This is a discussion about their words. What I say that is not a direct quote could be untrue. Any combination of verses to make a point could be wrong. But we are commanded to teach His words and discuss them.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NKJV “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”
