Who is Israel?

In 2020 the world is full of people attempting to elevate themselves and their race by claiming to be the True Israel. The level of scriptural ignorance among people in general is almost as criminal as people teaching their own ignorance and preying on the more ignorant people.

They all believe ‘Israel’ is a race of people connected by being a descendant of Abraham and Jacob, Jacob being renamed Israel by God.

John the Baptist, upon seeing the Pharisees approaching said this right away:

Matthew 3:7 KJV
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Matthew 3:8 KJV
Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

Matthew 3:9 KJV
And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Matthew 3:10 KJV
And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

John is clear your ancestry matters not. God wants repentance.

The Law tells us who is Israel and who Isn’t. The law pertains to both the ‘stranger’ [GER = CONVERT] and those already in Israel:

Exodus 12:49 KJV
One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.

Numbers 15:16 KJV
One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.

In addition Jesus makes it clear who is his family. That is, who is Israel:

Matthew 12:46 KJV
While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.

Matthew 12:47 KJV
Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.

Matthew 12:48 KJV
But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

Matthew 12:49 KJV
And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

Matthew 12:50 KJV
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Finally, in the law, if a person violates the law, his “soul” would be “cut off” from Israel:

So when Jesus said he came here first for Israel, He did not mean the Jewish People, or any other race. He meant people who did the will of God. The Temple had been entrusted into the care of the Levites, but their handling of the Temple had caused those seeking to do the will of God to scatter. Jesus replaced their authority.

Today all Disciples of Jesus are in His family, we are Israel.
